Global Communities (formerly CHF) is implementing a five-year, Local government and Infrastructure (LGI)
program in the West Bank with funding from the United States Agency for International development (USAID). The overall goal of the Local Government and Infrastructure Program (LGI) is to promote an enabling environment for good local governance and provide the basic infrastructure necessary for sustainable improvements in the quality of life for Palestinians in the West Bank to support the implementation of this program; Global Communities is seeking qualified candidates to assume the following position:

Program Assistant/Arabic Writer/Editor

Location: Ramallah, West Bank
Duration: Duration of contract (12) months, with possibility of extension up to September 2015

Responsibilities:

The Program Assistant will provide (1) administrative support to the knowledge management unit, which includes monitoring and evaluation, communications, special initiatives, and gender mainstreaming teams. S/he will also (2) providing writing support in Arabic by writing original text or proofreading the work of other team members. S/he will also (3) be responsible to manage the filing system (both hard copy and soft copy documents) to ensure institutional knowledge is maintained as well as proper preparation for any external audits. Additional tasks under knowledge management include: conduct data quality assessments of indicator data received, support coordination for program activities, coordination and invitations for events, uploading content to websites and social media sites, coordinating publication distribution, process payments for knowledge management activities, prepare activity summary sheets and follow up on any procurement processes for knowledge management activities, filing for knowledge management activities, scanning final payments for multiple program activities, in addition to other tasks as required, this may include supporting other program support team members when workload requires.

Key qualifications:
-Bachelor degree preferred in Arabic literature, Arabic language, or journalism. Additional administrative support courses or trainings would be preferable.
-Excellent Arabic writing/editing skills. English writing/editing skills also preferred.
-Previous administrative support experience preferred
-Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other team members
-Demonstrated ability to work under pressure
-Excellent skills in Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
-Familiarity with social media tools and ability to work with them comfortably is preferred
-Demonstrated passion for community development and any of the technical areas within knowledge management
