MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

In accordance with established Agency policy and procedures, the ideal candidate:
-Teaches the approved curriculum or selected subject(s) to individual and/or to a group/class of visually impaired pupils in the basic education section at a minimum of 27 sessions per week.
-Prepare the daily work plan and school term plan.
-Prepare and assessing exercises, exam and assignments.
-Apply and utilize different teaching and instruction methods for the visually impaired students including the use of active learning and enhance the different sensory perceptions whether through teaching aids, play drama, tactile awareness, etc.
-Ensure proper discipline and order among pupils, upon arrival to the RCVI, departure, during the breaks, in front of the RCVI canteen, inside the restaurant and inside the classroom.
-Provide support and work with other colleagues including teaching assistants and nurse as well as volunteers, to plan, coordinate and execute activities both indoors and outdoors.
-Develop and prepare related special teaching aids and ensure a wide use of tactile means in-order to facilitate the learning process of the visually impaired.
-Using proper teaching methods for the visually impaired and/or low vision students including Braille, large print, new technologies specific for the VI students, etc.
-Ensure the overall welfare of the students including proper hygiene practices, healthy appearance of uniform, cleanliness, tidiness, body postures and movement and social behavior.
-Ensure a hygienic environment inside the classroom keeping it fresh, cleaned, and in good order.
-Reporting on any damage, loss or lack in the educational aids, materials, equipment, furniture, in the classroom.
-Participate in the planning of the annual educational programmes, use appreciate assessment methods and tools with ability to develop individual as well as group lesson plans
-Performs such other duties as may be assigned.

PERSONAL & PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES
-A university degree in Special Education or Basic Education with graduation grade of 75%.
-No experience required at this entry level.
-It is desirable to have a special training course in the field of Disability and/or visual disability; reading and writing Braille; special course in orientation and mobility or rehabilitation of visually impaired people and Braille literacy; ability to operate software applications for using standard computer applications.
-Good knowledge of spoken and written Arabic and English;
-Ability to work with multiple educational teams and professionals;
-Ability to work independency;
-Ability to work in a dynamic team environment;
-Ability to present information and data in a clear and instructive manner;
-The selected candidate will be eligible for promotion to grade 10 after five years of satisfactory service with the Agency.

CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
-The monthly basic salary depends on the grading level and varies on the entry on duty from $751.70 to $830.70; plus monthly dependency allowance up to $123.25 and currency adjustment factor. The current rate is %22 of the base salary and subject to adjustment on monthly basis.
-Contract Duration: Three years including 1 year probation period.
-Pension: Provident Fund contribution
