Background:


In close collaboration with UNESCO colleagues in Ramallah and Paris as a member of team :
The Capacity Development/Research Coordinator will support the strengthening of PWRDC’s role as a documentation and research centre to provide data for policy-making on gender equality for PA and for other stakeholders (civil society, UN) in Palestine; as well as support the development and strengthening of capacities related to research on gender equality in Palestine. In particular, he/she will:
Description of Responsibilities:
-Support the review of existing research reports and publications to provide a “state of the art” on research on gender equality in Palestine and identify gaps for future research. 
-Initiate and Coordinate different logistical activities related to the capacity development component and particularly the organization of trainings in the West Bank and Gaza (consultant missions, invitations, selection of the candidates, training publications. Draft contract ToRs… etc)
-Participate in trainings in research methodologies for policy-oriented research and policy analysis in order to be part of the Master Trainer’s group and then follow-up with training others in these methodologies.
-Coordinate and develop with all major stakeholders the key research findings and establish research plans for future research to be carried out, notably in view of the regional research conference.
-Contribute to the development of newsletter/briefing on latest developments in research on gender in Palestine.
-To undertake any other task as required by UNESCO.

Competencies :
-Experience in implementation of Gender projects in the oPt, in particular donor-funded projects and/or UN projects. Experience in UNESCO-led projects is an asset.
-High level of management skills, including results-based management and report-writing.
-Understanding of project cycle and log-frame design including administration and financial management.
-Knowledge of the Palestinian context, including civil society (e.g. NGOs), in particular Gender related issues.
-Proven ability working in a team particularly in a multi-cultural and multi-stakeholder setting, from national government to grass-root levels.
-Actively works towards continuing personal learning and development..

Qualifications :

Education and Experience
-University degree in development and/or Gender-related fields (e.g. Gender Studies, Human Rights studies), Human and Social Sciences, or other related fields. Knowledge in Gender-related matters is an asset.
-Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in project management and support, preferably with the UN.
-Knowledge of computer and software (word-processing, spreadsheets, presentations, etc.).
- Fluency in English and Arabic is strongly desirable.
